The Powerful Western Widsom Tradition
Hermeticism is the Western wisdom teaching providing answers to the fundamental questions of life:
- Who am I?
- Why does the world exist?
- What is the purpose of my existence?
- Is there a relief of the misery in this word?
- Do we continue to exist after our physical being has fulfilled its purpose?
The term “Hermeticism” originates from Hermes. In the Greek mythology, Hermes is the intermediary between mind and matter. Hermeticism is the Western wisdom teaching that has been passed on continuously within the initiates’ circle for thousands of years. It retains methods to develop spiritual abilities and to master life.
It assists in viewing the world from a higher perspective and in unfolding the personality.
The Western Mystery Tradition
For thousands of years, mystery schools have been an expression of the Western Mystery Tradition. Among the most well-known of these places of initiation can be counted Isis and Osiris, the Mystery School of Zoroaster, the Mysteries of Dionysus, Mithraism, the Eleusinian Mysteries, Gnostics, Essenes, Sufis, Templars, and the Brotherhood of the Rose Cross.
The concept “Western Mystery Tradition” was coined in the last hundred years by S.L. MacGregor Mathers a founding member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Through Theosophy, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky brought Eastern metaphysics, meditation practices, and Eastern occult teaching to the West. MacGregor Mathers wanted to allude by the term “Western Mystery Tradition“, that the West actually has its own milleniums-old hermetic and mystical tradition which is tailored to the needs of Western people.
Hermetic Academy is a modern Mystery School that preserves the ageless teachings of the Western Mystery Tradition.
