Mackey Albert

Albert Gallatin Mackey war ein amerikanischer Arzt, Pädagoge, Autor und Journalist, der in Charleston geboren wurde. Nach der Medizin spezialisierte er sich auf die Erforschung mehrerer Sprachen (Hebräisch, Latein und Griechisch), hielt Vorträge über das Mittelalter und interessierte sich für die Freimaurer, kabbalistische und talmudische Forschungen sowie Symbolik. Albert Mackey hatte Kontakte zu mehreren Charlestoner Zeitschriften und gründete 1849 die freimaurerische Wochenzeitschrift „The Southern and Western Masonic Miscellany“. Er schrieb zahlreiche Bücher und freimaurerische Schriften und diente als Sekretär und Großdozent der „Großloge von South Carolina“ sowie als Generalsekretär der „Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States“.
